SEO
Search engine optimization is more commonly known as SEO. It
is the active practice of optimizing a web site through the implementation of on page (internal) and off page
(external) seo techniques in order to improve the volume or quality of traffic the site receives from search
engines.
The majority of web traffic is driven by the big three major commercial search
engines - Google, Bing (MSN), and Yahoo!. It is extremely important that the sites databases can
be crawled and found through the search process. Search engines continue to be the primary method in which to find
a site. This is true for all sites whether it be for services, content, information or products.
Keywords and search phrases or queries, are extremely important and therefore need
to be tailored specifically to your site. Research has proven that search engine traffic can make or break a
websites success. Targeted visitors can drive traffic specific to your needs, providing the desired income and or
exposure. The two basic methods of applying SEO is taking the time to learn SEO or financially investing in SEO
services. Either way, the outcome can generate substansial returns on investment.
Keywords
The heart of an SEO article is the keyword. Without keywords, SEO articles would
just be plain old articles. Learning how to write with keywords is a very important SEO technique that will take
you far.
Let’s say, for example, you have a website that promotes health. Some good
keywords for a site about health would be checkup, diet, exercise, fitness, heart, etc. Now you take those keywords
and you make up more keywords that people may use to search with. Taking the above example, we’ll write an article
using this SEO technique with the keywords ‘heart health’. This technique involves writing a web page repeating
heart health several times without it appearing conspicuous throughout the text.
Of course, if you repeat your key phrase too many times, you could be penalized
for 'keyword stuffing', so it's important to attain the right keyword density. If you can master this technique,
you’ll rise to the top of all the major search engines as long as you promote your site properly.
Submitting Sites
Writing content for your web pages using SEO techniques isn’t enough to get you to
the top of search engine lists. You must submit your sites to the various search engines so that you increase your
possibility of exposure. Your optimized content should be displayed on your site and they should be keyword
rich.
When visitors search for information that relates to your site's topic, the object
is to get your website to appear high in the search results so that visitors are more likely to come to your site
to see what you have to offer. Then, if you’re selling something, or you’re relying on clicks, your chances of
making money rise exponentially.
Article Directories
Once your sites and your content pages are up and running, you’ll want to submit a
few articles about your niche topic to an article directory, or many of them, so that people can read your
articles, which will then direct them back to your site. You may even find that people link your articles to their
sites, which maximizes your chances of internet success even more.
This SEO technique is often used to create backlinks, or external links that point
to your site. Search engines consider the number of quality back links you have pointing to your site to help them
determine how important your site is compared to others within your site's niche.
Back Links
Not everyone likes writing articles, so if you're looking for other ways to create
backlinks to your site, you might try adding a signature line to your profile in a couple of forums on the same
topic as your site. Be sure the forum doesn't have a 'nofollow' tag attached to it, or your backlink won't be
recognized.
You can also leave comments on blogs that will allow you to leave a link to your
site. These links pointing back to your site can encourage new visitors and can also help to improve your search
engine rankings.
Just when you think you know it all, there are many more SEO techniques waiting
for you to learn about them. As long as you pledge to always learn about the new ways to market your websites and
you research SEO techniques as often as possible, you’ll become an expert in SEO in no time.
